Work Experience

Services

The Learning Services Work Experience Program (WEX) is a community-based partnership between local businesses and School District 42. Our goal is to provide positive work experience opportunities for students to enhance their lives and help provide success in their future.

The Work Experience Program provides:

  • an opportunity for students to develop communication, independence and work skills in the community.
  • practical, hands-on, meaningful experiences for students.
  • work placements to increase skills and ensure success, job coaching and resume building – facilitated by the Work Experience Coordinator in partnership with other organizations such as Work BC.

In keeping with our mission, the Learning Services WEX Program is designed to serve as a bridge from school to adult life options including work, college vocational programs and community participation

Learning Services works in partnership with schools, families and the community to promote student success.  We value inclusion, collaboration, diversity and individual achievement.  In working toward this mission, we will promote inclusiveness of all students within local schools and treat each person as valued and unique, with dignity and respect.
